Our Product Guide
Hi everyone! I wanted to make this product guide for assistance when searching for the right Belle Butters item. In this guide, you will find that the majority of the products I make can have multiple uses, it's all about your personal needs. I will suggest alternate items for similar products if you needed something say, lighter or heavier for example. I hope you all will find this helpful!
Okay, let's get started.
This was the product I started out with when I first began Belle Butters. For thicker, coarser hair types, this is the choice you would want to make. I chose the ingredients with this hair type mostly in mind. It will help condition, strengthen and soften the hair. Finer hair types can use it as well, but I recommend it for sealing/pomade use only as the heaviness of this butter can weigh finer hair types down.
For the skin, this is especially curtailed for those who suffer from eczema and psoriasis. The calendula and jojoba oils in the butter help out with these skin conditions tremendously. Available in 2, 8 and 16oz sizes.
This is another butter intended for thick and coarse hair types but can also be used as a conditioning treatment for both coarse and fine hair types. As a conditioning treatment, it is suggested to melt down 1/2 a tablespoon of butter using the double boiler method. Simply find a large bowl that will sit on top of a pot and using medium heat (with water in the pot), melt down your butter. Please do not put it in the microwave. The extreme heat of the microwave can kill the nutrients that are in the butter and oils. Apply your melted butter to damp hair, cover with a plastic cap and let it sit overnight or for 30mins under a hooded dryer. Rinse out well and style as usual. This butter can also be used on the body for extremely dry skin, however, I must warn you that the rosemary oil in this butter isn't the most pleasant smell, so if you're concerned about scent, I'd skip this butter for the body. Available in 8oz & 16oz sizes.
This, hands down, is my favorite smelling butter. I primarily use this as a body butter. After your shower or bath, apply this butter to your skin so that while your pores are still open, the butter can be readily absorbed. If you plan on using this butter for your hair, please keep in mind that the main base for this butter is shea, with orange butter added to it. It can weigh down finer hair types, so please, use again for a pomade or to seal your ends. I've heard that the best results from this butter are when donning a twist-out on natural hair. The orange seed oil captures the light perfectly for an amazing shine. Available in 8oz and 16oz sizes.
This butter smells delicious if you love the smell of chocolate, specifically the smell of a thin mint. There is no shea butter in this butter, so if you are looking for something that is lighter, this is a great choice. I've noticed that on wet/damp hair, this butter ads a bit of slip, so it definitely aides with styling. Many customers have reported to me that this works on their son's hair, mostly low hair cuts. After washing and conditioning the hair is dried and then the butter is applied. It keeps the hair moisturized without a lot of buildup. I've also heard that this works well on a man's beard ;).On the skin, it goes on like silk! Because this is a lighter butter, it usually is not my recommendation for the winter months. I would suggest on the body, using this butter during the spring/summer and fall. Available in 2, 4 and 8oz sizes.
This butter is the ultimate in skin protection against the harsh winds of the winter and the sun during the summer. This moisturizing butter lasts all day without needing a "touch up". This butter was conceived when dealing with my own issues of extremely dry skin (scaly dry skin around the mouth and eyebrows) and my problems with rosacea. I could no longer tolerate a steroid topical cream for my face. I used mango butter because it is light, absorbs quickly and has lasting power. It doesn't interfere with makeup application. If you need an alternate or something heavier for your face, this leads us into the next product. Edit: I've been told that this may work for eczema patches to help relieve itching. It may not clear it up, but it definitely keeps the itches away. Another edit: I've been told this works great as a primer for makeup or to have a subtle dewy look! Available in 2oz and 4oz sizes.
If you're looking for a happy medium with a butter, not too heavy, not too light, but just in between, then this is the butter for you. It also has an amazing vanilla scent. If you find that the Mango Moisture Butter for Face is too light for you, especially during the winter, then I suggest going with the Shea-Mango Fluffy Butter instead. It carries the same benefits; it is moisturizing, lasts all day, absorbs quickly and doesn't interfere with your makeup. It is also great for those who have finer hair. For coarser hair types, this can be used, but I do not recommend it, as the moisture may not be enough for your hair to carry it from day-to-day without sucking it all up. Available in 4oz, 8oz and 16oz sizes.
This is another light butter that packs a lot of moisturizing power. It does have a tendency to feel a little greasy, which is why I recommend it mostly for coarser hair types. This butter works well in the extreme summer heat as it doesn't tend to let your hair go "dry" so quickly. In the winter time it does the same thing, but be cautious that because of the cold air outside and the lack of moisture inside, it may be too light for that time of the year. When I use it during the winter, I make sure I am putting a generous amount of leave-in conditioner in my hair before applying this butter so that there is a good layer of moisture underneath. This butter also doubles for the skin and has an intricate coconut smell. If you suffer from eczema and would like a lighter butter, this is a great substitution for the Whipped Shea Butter. Available in 4oz, 16oz and 32oz sizes.
The Unyevu (Beauty in Swahili) Butter is a very nice treat if you are looking for a body butter that has a long-lasting scent. In addition to this being one of the stronger scented butters that I offer, again it is very moisturizing for the hair and body. It is a little heavy but it absorbs readily. Most hair types, coarse to fine all use this butter. Know that if your hair is finer, that you will use less of this butter. If you are trying to thicken your hair or battle dandruff or dry scalp, the ingredients in this butter are above par and ready to work! Massage this butter into the scalp, a little goes a long way. For those with severely dry scalp, melt the butter down and apply to the scalp and cover the scalp with a shower cap for a treatment and then wash and condition the hair as usual. Available in 2, 4, 16 and 32oz sizes.
This is the first seasonal butter to debut on the Belle Butters line. I thought that something scented with a holiday favorite would be a winner and it definitely is. This butter can be used on both the hair and body for both hair types and all skin types. It is scented, so if you have allergies, please take note. This butter is amazing and great when layered with your favorite winter time perfume that has similar spicy notes. Did you also know, that pumpkin pie is an aphrodisiac? Well, it is! Don't believe me? Check out this post about sexual arousal in men and the scent of pumpkin pie! Available in 4oz, 16oz and 32oz sizes. This butter is seasonal and will be in the shop through February 2014.
Belle Butters Silky Outdoor Tanning Butter
The Belle Butters Silky Outdoor Tanning Butter is an alternative to the traditional tanning butters on the market. Most will leave you feeling dry because it is oil based. This butter will leave your skin soft and supple. The combination of the shea, mango and cocoa butter gives this butter a natural spf between 10-15. In addition to those, the rice bran oil also has natural spf. When summer's over, transition this butter to a body butter to keep your skin soft during the winter! An added bonus: use this butter to rid of scars/dark marks. Depending on how old/new the scar is, expect it to take anywhere from 3-8 months to see improvements. Available in 8oz and 16oz sizes.
Belle Butters Neutralizing Butter for Oily Skin
The newest addition to the Belle Butters skincare line is the Neutralizing Butter. I'm an oily T-Zone sufferer and I was looking for something that would remove the excess oil from my skin without drying it completely out. I came up with this recipe, which includes activated charcoal powder to not only remove the excess oil, but impurities as well. This butter is ideal if you have an oily T-Zone or if you spend a lot of time outdoors. Our skin can absorb the pollutants in the air and from time to time they need to be removed to keep the skin clear. Use this initially, every night. As your skin begins to normalize, the less you will need to use this butter. Eventually, you will cut your use down to once a week. Directions are included on how to apply this butter. This is available in a 4oz size. If you would like a larger size, it can be custom ordered.
The first facial exfoliator in the Belle Butters line is the Avo-Cocoa Facial Polish. Instead of using salt or sugar, I have used walnut shell powder in this gentle exfoliator. This polish is made with two moisturizing butters, avocado and cocoa butters. We've also added black currant oil and carrot oil along with local honey and more to this scrub. The black currant helps the skin cells regenerate much faster and the honey is a humectant! Not only does your skin feel amazing after using it, it is moisturized. Emulsify this butter in your hands and apply to your face in a circular motion. Avoid your eyes and any cuts or burns. Remove using a towel and warm water. Available in an 8oz size.
I recently started my loc journey, so it was only natural that I make something to re-twist my locs with! The Loc Lovin' Gellie is a non-petroleum, non-mineral oil gel. It is actually made with castor! There is no buildup, it doesn't hold onto lint, it isn't sticky and it does not flake! It's the perfect loc twisting gel. I used ingredients like green tea extract to help strengthen and condition the hair and macadamia nut oil to help cut down on frizziness. The hold is amazing! It also keeps your hair looking shiny and healthy! Available in a 4 & 8oz size.
The Black Currant & Lavender Oil Cleanser is great for those who want to try to the oil cleansing method (OCM). The oil cleansing method is an alternative to using soapy/harsh cleansers that are full of nothing but water and detergents. The oil approach offers a more moisturizing solution to cleansing your skin. This oil cleanser is for all skin types. The grapeseed oil helps fight acne, sweet almond oil moisturizes the skin, the lavender oil works as an astringent and the black currant & carrot oils help with cell turnover. Each cleansing oil comes with a deep cleansing pad. A little of this goes a long way and one 2oz bottle should last you several months.
Everyone asked for this lip balm to be offered regularly after I sent out freebies of it once. Here it is, in all its glory! Coffee Butter, avocado butter, camellia seed oil and peppermint oil (for a touch of mint and tingle!) for amazingly soft lips any time of the year. Doesn't hurt if you're a coffee lover to have this incredible smell right under your nose! .5floz
